The third edition of Daniel Wildman’s A Complete guide for the management of bee throughout the year offers a good example of practical bee literature from the eighteenth century. Wildman claims to have left descriptions of bee nature and their political ramifications to others in favor of concentrating on proper management techniques. He includes descriptions and illustrations of new box hives and includes important practical advice, ranging from information on the "enemies" of bees and how to protect stocks from them to how best to overwinter a hive.
