| ====== UMass 1963 ====== |
| |
| The Watertown, Mass., firm of Sasaki Walker and Associates set the basic plan for the massive expansion of UMass during the 1960s. This highly schematic drawing shows a campus virtually unrecognizable relative to the Mass. Aggie campus of fifty years before, with a new tree-lined rung road encircling a campus burgeoning with new buildings. To the right of [[buildings:p:pond|the pond]], the [[buildings:m:morrill|Morrill Science complex]] is easily recognizable, as is the [[buildings:s:student_union|Student Union]] and [[buildings:m:machmer|Machmer Hall]] above the Pond and to the west, but much else is fanciful. |
