UMass 1963
The Watertown, Mass., firm of Sasaki Walker and Associates set the basic plan for the massive expansion of UMass during the 1960s. This highly schematic drawing shows a campus virtually unrecognizable relative to the Mass. Aggie campus of fifty years before, with a new tree-lined rung road encircling a campus burgeoning with new buildings. To the right of the pond, the Morrill Science complex is easily recognizable, as is the Student Union and Machmer Hall above the Pond and to the west, but much else is fanciful.
