Chancellors

As the University of Massachusetts created new campuses in Worcester, Boston, Lowell, and Dartmouth, the administrative structure necessarily evolved. The position of Chancellor was created for the campus at Amherst in 1970, with Oswald Tippo becoming the first to hold that title, while the President became head of the UMass system.
