School of Public Health and Health Sciences

The University of Massachusetts Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences is a college within the university. Founded in 1941 as the Department of Bacteriology and Public Health, it was renamed to the Department of Public Health in 1961. It merged with the School of Nursing in 1973 to become the Division of Public Health within the School of Health Sciences. In 1989, it split off to form the School of Public Health, and was renamed in 1993 to the School of Public Health and Health Sciences.
