====== Minuteman Statue ======

Sculpted by UMass Professor of Art, John Townsend, and cast at the Paul King Foundry in Johnston, R.I., the bronze statue of a Revolutionary War Minuteman stands 9.5' tall on a 45" high granite base.  The statue is situated on the west ridge of campus, looking eastward over the [[p:pond|campus pond]]. 

The Minuteman was thoroughly a UMass project.  Funds for the statute were raised by members of the Class of 1950 and its site was designed by Jason Venditti, Class of 1996, a member of the university's Department of Facilities and Campus Planning.
