Hyde, Dan

Little is known about Dan Hyde other than he appears to have been a resident of Ontario County, New York, during the period of the Second Great Awakening, probably in either the town of Farmington or Manchester.

This small paper-bound booklet includes some miscellaneous accounts along with poetry. Although the author is uncertain, the book may have been kept by Dan Hyde, who may have resided in either Farmington or Manchester, Ontario County, N.Y. It remains unclear whether the poetry is original or copied, but the titles include “The Genesee song,” “Remember Lot’s wife,” and “Encouragement to pray.”
