Cookbooks, of course, exist largely for the recipes they contain. And what recipes they are! Lurking within the pages of community cookbooks are recipes that make — shall we say — creative use of novel ingredients, recipes that reflect old tastes and changing cultures, but also recipes that display a certain genius in the kitchen.
As our cookbook blog grows, we will extract recipes that evoke the sense of a particular time or place, that reflect our regional New England cuisine, or that seem to have all the delicious potential of a good home meal. Others — not so much. Whether it is changing taste, or simply bad taste, not all recipes stand the test of time. To our readers, we have a suggestion: take the recipes as you find them here and make them your own. Have a dinner on our Department!
We welcome submissions of your own family and community recipes and will post the best of them on this site. Illustrations are welcome!
